When managing Inventory in FieldInsight, there are different types of inventory items available. This document explains the key terms you need to understand when working with inventory in the system.

Types of Inventory Items

FieldInsight provides several types of inventory items. Depending on your business settings, not all of these may be in use. Below are all available inventory types and when to use them:

  • Additional Charge - Any extra cost that needs to be charged to customers.

  • Equipment - Durable goods acquired for operations, typically with a long useful life.

  • Expense - Items not meant for resale or production but used in daily business operations (e.g. office supplies, parking, etc.). These can also be added to a job as a billable item.

  • Package - A group of products, services, additional charges, equipment, and expenses bundled together as an offering to clients.

  • Product - A material or stock item kept for sale, production, or operational needs.

  • Service - A service provided by your business, where pricing can be set. This can also be used to define service rates for staff for payroll purposes.

  • Subcontrator Service - A service type specifically for subcontractors.
