How to Use the Map Planner – A Step-by-Step Guide

This guide provides detailed instructions on how to use the Map in FieldInsight to monitor and plan jobs efficiently.

1. Logging into FieldInsight

  • Open FieldInsight in your browser.

  • Enter your login credentials and sign in.

  • Find Map in the left-hand side menu.


2. Viewing Jobs on the Map

A. View Jobs on the Map - Now

Go to Map > Now to see jobs for a specific date.

  1. Use the filtering options to:

    • Show scheduled and unscheduled jobs.

    • Select specific technicians or units.

    • Show vehicles only.


  2. Click Show to display jobs.

  3. Use the Show new address feature to search for a new location and add jobs directly on the map.

  4. Zoom in/out to see jobs as needed.

B. View Jobs on the Map - Jobs

  1. Go to Map > Jobs to see jobs over a selected time period.

  2. Use additional filtering options, including:

    • Scheduled period (start and end date).

    • Technician, status, job type, region.

  3. Click Show Jobs to display the filtered jobs.

  4. Zoom in/out to see job locations.

C. View Jobs on the Map - Planner

  1. Navigate to Map > Planner.

  2. View jobs by different timeframes:

    • Year, Month, Twelve Weeks, Week, or Day.

  3. Set filters for:

    • Job Type, Technician, Region, Project, Customer, PO Number, Workflow, Job Status.

  4. Jobs are grouped using red circles, which indicate the total number of jobs in an area.

  5. Zoom in/out to see individual jobs.


3. Viewing Jobs by Different Timeframes

A. Yearly View

  • Displays all months starting from the specified start date (e.g., April to March).

  • Clicking on a month’s box filters jobs for that period.

B. Monthly View

  • Displays all weeks within the selected month.

  • Clicking on a week’s box filters jobs for that period.

C. Twelve-Week View

  • Displays jobs in twelve-week segments.

  • Clicking on a week’s box filters jobs for that period.

D. Weekly View

  • Shows jobs week-by-week.

  • Allows for technician utilization tracking.

  • Drag-and-drop jobs to:

    • Change job dates.

    • Assign jobs to different technicians.

E. Daily View

  • Used for route planning.

  • Shows jobs for a specific day.

  • Allows drag-and-drop functionality for rescheduling.


4. Planning Routes for Technicians

A. Initial Route Planning

  1. Go to Map > Planner.

  2. Select View by Day and pick the Start Date.

  3. Ensure that jobs are already assigned to technicians.

  4. Click Plan Route.

  5. The system calculates the best route, considering:

    • Start and End times.

    • Assigned jobs.

    • Travel hours.

B. Configuring Route Settings

  1. Set:

    • Start Time.

    • Start Address.

    • End Address.

  2. Click Plan.

  3. Review the generated route.

  4. Note that the job order may change from the original assignment.

  5. The system will automatically update travel hours and adjust job start and end times.

C. Verifying Routes

  1. As the Scheduler, check the planned route.

  2. Verify the route from the technician’s mobile device.

D. Planning for Another Technician

  1. Repeat the steps in Route Planning for another technician.

  2. Configure the Start and End Address.

  3. Click Plan.

  4. Verify the new route.


5. Additional Features

A. Viewing Job Pins

  • Zoom in to see job pin locations labeled from A to Z per technician.

  • Pin colors correspond to different technicians.

  • Click a pin to view job details.

B. Switching to Satellite View

  • Toggle the Satellite View option to see real-world imagery.

C. Filtering by Status

  • On the Planner Page, job pin colors are based on status.

  • Status colors can be configured via Job Navigator.
