When managing specific clients who require a discount on set pricing, the Pricing Discount Matrix feature helps you organise all discount categories in one place.

Activating the Pricing Discount Matrix feature

To use this feature in FieldInsight, you need to activate it. Go to Settings > Business > Features, tick the "Inventory Discount Matrix" box, and click Save.

Where is the Matrix available?

There isn’t just one matrix that controls all inventory pricing—each type of inventory item has its own. This gives you greater control over the percentage discount applied to different clients based on the item. Pricing Discount matrices are available for:

  • Services

  • Products

  • Expenses

  • Additional Charges

  • Equipments

Setting up a Discount Matrix

To configure a Discount Matrix, navigate to one of the supported inventory items, click Settings, and choose Discount Matrix.

There are two key elements to set up:

  • Categories: These apply only to the inventory item type you’re working with. You can create different categories and assign various discount rates.

  • Ratings: These apply across all inventory items. When you create a rating, it will appear across all Pricing Discount Matrices, not just one. Ratings are assigned to account customers, allowing different discount percentages to be applied across categories and inventory items.

Assign Rates to Account Customers

For the Pricing Discount Matrix to apply, you must assign the correct rating to each Account Customer.

  1. Open an Account Customer record and locate the Customer Rating field.

  2. Select the appropriate rating for that customer.

  3. Set a Range Modifier to apply an extra percentage to the predefined rate from the Pricing Discount Matrix. (optional)

    • Example: If Category A has a 40% discount, and you set a 10% Range Modifier, the system will combine them to apply a 50% discount to Quotes and Invoices.

Once everything is set up, you can create Quotes or Invoices. Each time an inventory item is added, the system will automatically calculate and apply the correct discounted price.
